Move
Today we’ll leverage the potent new energy of Spring to move and sweat. Sweating is an important way for your body to cool itself down, release toxins, cleanse pores, and boost circulation. Studies show that sweating through exercise can improve immune function, relieve stress and promote better sleep.
Citizen teacher, Melissa Wagasy, will take you through a quick and spicy 5 exercise flow to warm you from the inside out. This short 2 min sequence can be done multiple times or pause the video and add more reps.
Straight leg glute lift: From table pose extend one leg behind you and then lift and lower the leg 10 times per side
Fire hydrant with straight leg kick: From table pose, lift one knee out to the side in a hydrant pose and then from the highest level of your lift kick the leg straight out to the side
Single leg push-ups Can also be done on your knees
Boat Pose (Navasana): From seated, lift legs and arms
Side Plank with kick stand leg: Lift hips high and low to activate the side body
Stop exercising if you experience unusual symptoms, such as dizziness and nausea. Be sure to stay hydrated and drink lots of water to replace any fluids you’ve sweat out.
