Cleanse

by Soojin Kim, Citizen Yoga Teacher

Our morning rituals set the tone for the day, nourishing the body, mind, and heart. How we begin each morning creates ripples that shape our energy, mindset, and experiences throughout the day. Through the lens of ayurveda, upon waking to promote and ignite our digestive fire, warm water and lemon first thing in the morning is a beautiful ritual to start the day. After about 15 minutes. If you wanted to continue with warm tea the CCF tea (cumin, coriander and fennel). This incredible tea gently stimulates the lymphatic system and promotes the circulation of fluids. It is wonderful to drink between meals up until about mid-afternoon.

  • Cumin stimulates digestive fire (Agni), helping with sluggish digestion and reducing gas.

  • Coriander cools and soothes the digestive tract while supporting proper nutrient absorption.

  • Fennel relaxes the gastrointestinal tract, reducing bloating and cramping.

I love this tea because it detoxifies the body by removing ama and creates tridoshic harmony: pacifying all the doshas.

  • This tea helps eliminate toxins (Ama) by promoting gentle detoxification.

  • Coriander supports liver function, assisting in toxin processing.

  • Cumin & Fennel act as mild diuretics, flushing out impurities.

Nettle tea is a perfect herbal ally for spring, gently detoxifying and cleansing the system. For a refreshing, nutrient-rich juice, my favorite blend includes celery, lemon, ginger, and green apple. However, if my Pitta dosha feels dominant, I adjust accordingly, removing ginger when Pitta is imbalanced to avoid adding excess heat.

I love this season and I would love to continue the dialogue and hear about your rituals, routines and practices to keep you grounded and balanced.
