Integrating Eastern Philosophy + Western Anatomy

  • Citizen Yoga Bloomfield 6400 Telegraph Road Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, 48301 United States (map)

Ancient wisdom and modern science converge in this 21-hour deep dive into the body's interconnected systems. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, students will explore Five Element Theory, the dynamic interplay of Yin and Yang, and channel theory to illuminate the energetic pathways that inform asana sequencing and practice.

From the Western lens, students will investigate connective tissue as the body's unifying architecture, and build detailed knowledge of the musculoskeletal system with a focused study of the spine and major joint systems including hips, shoulders, knees, and ankles.

Rather than treating these frameworks as separate disciplines, this module draws meaningful parallels, where meridians meet fascial lines, and elemental patterns illuminate postural tendencies.

This weekend immersion counts as 21 hours towards Citizen Yoga's 300-hour teacher training program, and is also open to any interested student or teacher.
