Community
We asked our Citizen teachers and staff what community means to them…
Community means a space to feel connected, protected and empowered. - Kimberly Tessmer
Community means people who keep you in alignment with yourself. - Jess Diskin
Community means a space or environment where individuals are a part of a collective experience allowing for support or dialogue. The act of being in community creates possibility and potential that cannot be experienced alone. - Hannah Andersen
Community means a welcoming and safe space where people can be authentically themselves, free from judgment, and surrounded by support. It’s a place where we feel comfortable sharing our personal experiences, knowing we will be met with understanding and encouragement. In a true community, we uplift one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and offer strength during challenges. It is also a space of inspiration, where we learn from one another, grow together, and strive to become the best versions of ourselves. Most importantly, community is where everyone feels seen, valued, and special—where each individual is recognized for their unique light and contribution. - Cindy Levine
Community means connection. A space to be seen and see others from a place of presence. A space to be held and to hold others up. - Soojin Kim
Community means safety and support. - Najee Robbins
Community means to have people who create space for you consistently and are there to support and inspire you through your growth and evolution. - Melissa Wagasy
Community means showing up for myself as much as I show up for others. - Chris Trecapelli
Community means making effort for the good of the collective, which in turn creates more joy and ease in my own life. - Elyse Brogdon
