The five layers of class are a diagnostic tool to help teachers manage the energy of a room and course correct anytime class feels “off.” These layers always exist, but how they exist changes throughout different moments in class. By managing the five layers of class, teachers support a student’s ability to reorient the mind inwards.
Over the course of the weekend, we will study pose breakdown, pranayama techniques, the hero’s journey, demonstration techniques, body placement and key hands-on adjustments, use of music, and pacing. The weekend will culminate with an experience of practice teaching for all participants.
This course is one of the 6 core curriculum immersions for the Citizen Yoga 300HR teacher training program and counts as 32 contact hours. Any yoga teacher not currently enrolled in the CY 300HR program are welcome and encouraged to enroll. Students must enroll in the entire weekend to participate. All sessions are hybrid and recordings are available.
