Yoga at the Big House
Improving mental health and preventing suicide begins by supporting the most vulnerable and resilient in our communities.
The mission of Citizen Yoga is to improve mental health and prevent suicide through personal growth and transformation. Yoga at the Big House is an annual celebration of our mission, where we bring together over 1,000 community members to normalize conversations about mental health and suicide.
Each year, this event evolves to support mental health in the ways our community needs it most. In 2025, we are centering the belief that a system that supports those most marginalized among us is a system that supports everyone. Together, we will fundraise for two local organizations - Detroit Phoenix Center and Affirmations - that work to provide wrap around supports for our most vulnerable and resilient community members.

Meet Our 2025 Beneficiaries
Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Center was founded in 1989 with a mission to provide a welcoming space where people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and cultures can find support and unconditional acceptance, and where they can learn, grow, socialize and feel safe.
Mission: To improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ Michiganders through education, programming, advocacy, and providing space for community connection.

Detroit Phoenix Center opened in 2017 as the first completely volunteer-driven Asset Based Resource Center providing drop-in services and basic need support to teens and young adults experiencing housing crisis or instability and seeking a place to belong, authentic relationships, and critical resources.
Mission: To provide critical resources, wrap around support, and a safe, nurturing environment to youth who are transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.
